Colorado Christian Basketball lost their third-straight game Monday, falling 90-69 to NCAA DII opponent Simon Fraser in Burnaby, BC, Canada.
Â
Though CCU turned in a solid second-half showing, SFU dominated the contest after hitting an impressive 34 times from the field. Hard to handle in the paint, the home team scored 48 points under the basket, compared to 24 from CCU. SFU forward Erin Chambers scored 34 on the Cougars, and led all players with ten boards.
Â
Unable to connect more than four times from downtown, CCU instead did the majority of their scoring from the free throw line. With junior
Kate Louthan leading the way, the Cougars scored 25 points on 34 tries. Louthan tallied seven of her 11 points from the charity stripe.
Â
Christian sophomore
Claire Paxton scored a team-high 17 points in the loss, marking the second time this season the Edinburg, UK native totaled 17 for the Cougars.

SFU doomed Colorado Christian after scoring 47 points in the first half (20 FGs). Though the Cougars battled in the second – outscoring the home team by one – the early damage proved too lethal for CCU to overcome. The loss dropped the Cougars to 0-3 on the young year.
Â
Still two and a half weeks away from their next home contest, Colorado Christian will travel north again to square off against three opponents at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks Tournament. The Cougars will play Augustana Friday afternoon.
