When the buzzer sounded at the end of the first half of Friday night's game against Metro State, Colorado Christian was in great position to claim its fifth conference win. By the final horn, it was merely disappointment as the Cougars fell 67-53 to the Roadrunners.
Â
It was a tale of two halves, and unfortunately for the blue and gold, the good came before the bad. Christian could not uphold their 35-34 halftime lead as poor shooting in the second period prevented the Cougars from staying in the contest.

Senior
Alyssa Fressle and junior
Kate Louthan provided a spark in the opening half, carrying CCU with 12 and nine points, respectively. The duo, though, along with the rest of the team, went ice-cold over the final 20 minutes. Fressle would finish with 14 and Louthan with 11.
Â
Christian mustered just 18 points in the second half, going 4-27 from the field- a lowly 14.8%. Open looks were available, but the shots simply weren't falling and MSUD separated.
Â
Christina Whitelaw, playing in her first home game since returning to the team earlier this month, displayed her typical defensive prowess, snatching eight steals in her 28 minutes on the floor. Forcing Metro State into 22 turnovers was not enough, however. The Roadrunners overcame their errors with efficient shooting, and combined with CCU's struggles put the game out of reach.
Â
While suffering their tenth loss of the season, the Cougars remain at .500 in the RMAC with a 4-4 mark. Saturday night brings a matchup with Regis University, who bring an identical conference record to Lakewood. Tipoff against the Rangers is 5 PM.
