CCU faced off with Adams State on Saturday night and dominated their way to another conference victory winning by a final score of 80-69. It was a sloppy game for both teams as they combined for 60 turnovers, but a solid all-around team effort on the offensive side of the ball gave Colorado Christian everything they needed for the double digit victory.

It was a run and gun first quarter between both teams as they each turned up the intensity in an effort to gain control of the game early on. Colorado Christian began the game in a full court press, and continued to pressure Adams throughout the first. It payed off as they were able to force several turnovers which led to some easy points. At the end of the first quarter, CCU had taken the advantage as they had the lead 26-15. The lead could have been bigger, but some costly turnovers by the Cougars kept them within striking distance heading into the second period.

The pace slowed dramatically in the second, as both teams continued to turn the ball over and also committed several fouls. Christian was able to add to their lead heading into halftime as the score was 47-32 at the break. CCU shot just under 58% from the field in the half as they connected on 15 of their 26 shots including 6-15 (40%) from downtown.
Chandler Sturms provided an offensive spark off the bench for CCU as she finished the first half with 13 points and hit on all three of her attempts from three. Defensively, Colorado Christian held Adams State to just 37% shooting in the first half and also forced 13 turnovers led by
Claire Paxton who had three steals. Â Â

Sloppy play continued to be the theme as the third quarter started. Both teams combined for 19 total turnovers in the period.
Ali Meyer was a major impact on the game as she was able to use her height advantage over to the visiting Grizzlies and was able to grab just about every rebound that was within her reach. At the end of the third, CCU had a 61-43 lead.

The fourth quarter ended up being a mere formality as the Cougars had the game well in hand and were able to cruise to the 80-69 victory. The win marked the sixth straight for CCU. The Cougars finished the game shooting 51% (26-51) from the field for the game.

CCU had five players score in double figures on the night led by
Chandler Sturms with her game high 20 points.
Kate Louthan (15 points),
Kaitlyn Hinch (12 points),
Claire Paxton (10 points), and
Alex Nelson (10 points) were the other four Cougars who also were able to get into double figures.
Ali Meyer finished four points shy of getting another double-double as she nearly out rebounded the entire Adams State team as she grabbed 16 boards.

The win improves their record to 10-3 on the year and 7-2 in conference play. They will be back in action Friday January 15
th as they face off against Metro State.
