CCU Women's Basketball scheduled their first preseason game against Montana State, a member of the Big Sky Conference. The Bobcats won the exhibition showing 93-53.
Â
Montana State finished their 2015-2016 season in the green with a winning record of 21-10 and 14-4 in their conference. The Bobcats are a good D1 team that knows how to compete.
Â
Colorado Christian ended last year 23-10, and 15-7 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Cougars lost their two star seniors after last season, but other than that the team is all familiar faces. Returning to the court and starting for CCU was
Claire Paxton,
Leisha Crawford,
Mikala Gordon,
Kaitlyn Hinch, and
Chandler Sturms. Hinch and Paxton started for the Cougs last season as well and led blue and gold in scoring against the bobcats.
Â
Senior #10
Claire Paxton scored a team high of 15 points and played 34 minutes. Paxton also led in rebounds with seven.
Kaitlyn Hinch and
Mikala Gordon both had 12 points. Hinch totaled three assists and Gordon had two.
Â
MSUB's play was at a higher level than the Cougs, and CCU was not able to get close to them on the scoreboard. CCU shot 26.6% from the field, 11.1% from downtown, and 54.8% in free throws. Christian's shooting was off due to the pressure being put on them from Montana.
Â
The Cougars will be hosting the RMAC/Heartland Conference Tip-off November 11
th and 12
th at Colorado Christian University. CCU plays St. Edwards University on Friday and the University of Arkansas Fort Smith on Saturday. Both game times are set for 7:00 PM.
