Christian Cruises Over Grizzlies

After a long Christmas break, Colorado Christian proved to be the opposite of sluggish defeating Adams State University 78-39 on Friday afternoon.
 
The Cougars came out unstoppable in the first half shooting 60% while the Grizzles went 7-27 at 26%. CCU led the game by a comfortable margin; it was a combination of cohesive teamwork and aggressive defense. In the first quarter, Christian was up 21-13, and then at the end of the second they came out on top 43-22. Senior, Claire Paxton had a nearly flawless half shooting 6-7 and leading CCU with 13 points. Leisha Crawford did have a flawless half at 3-3 making two three pointers and one field goal. Alex Nelson scored nine points with six rebounds and three assists. The Cougar squad had never looked so clean this season.
 
Adams State was in a daze as the Cougars ran the court. The second half continued in blue and gold's favor increasing their lead by a heavy 30 points. The end of the third quarter was 64-31 Cougs. It was an all-out team effort as players like Sarah Holt scored nine points, and Jordan Baer gave four assists with nine rebounds. Paxton ended the game with three blocks and 14 points. Alex Nelson was the MVP with a double-double scoring 16 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, four assists, and two big blocks.
 
The Cougs had five players scoring double digits vs the Grizzles. Kaitlyn Hinch had 11 points, Mikala Gordon with 10, and Leisha Crawford 10. The Cougs ended the game shooting 55% FG, 25% 3FG, and 76% FT.
 
CCU Women's Basketball is now 5-7 overall and 3-4 in conference play. Their next game is vs Black Hills State University on New Year's Eve at the CCU Event Center 3:00 PM. The Cougs defeated Black Hills earlier in the season 64-55.
