Colorado Christian Women's Basketball took the first seed in the NCCAA Central Region Tournament with an overall record of 19-9. They would face Southwestern Assemblies of God (18-13 taking the fourth seed) on Thursday night at the CCU Event Center. CCU would win in overtime 80-76. This would give the Cougars 20 season wins making CCU history with the highest winning record ever.

 It was blue and gold that led on the scoreboard in the first half of the game. Half way through the second quarter SAGU would tie it up at 21, but only for a few seconds as the Cougars retaliated with another jump shot and six-point lead on the Lions. The second half would end 33-28 with CCU leading.Â

 Despite the fact that the Cougs were winning, SAGU scored 18 points, compared to the Cougars 16 in the second quarter. Blue and gold had 13 personal fouls allowing the Lions ten additional points.

 Ending the half, it was Christian's strong first quarter them kept them afloat. Colo. Christian outshot the Lions in field goals at 50%-27%. SAGU led from the three point line shooting 33% to CCU's 17%, and also in free throws 71%-67%. CCU Cougar
Ali Meyer scored 12 points, and SAGU's #35 Charity Page had 10 going into the locker room.

 The Lady Cougars stepped up their shooting game from downtown thanks to Sophomore
Kaitlyn Hinch who hit two in a row, mid-third quarter making the score 46-38 CCU. Â The third quarter ended 51-49 CCU up, but being outscored 21-18.

 It was a slow and gradual advancement for SAGU, but they finally jumped ahead in the fourth quarter at the eight-minute mark 54-51. The Cougs foul count was at 22, with three players at four. Southwest put up 18 points from blue and gold personals.Â

 The Lions had all the momentum at this point in the game and were not letting it go. CCU tied it up 58-58 (4:30), but then SAGU dropped two threes in a row, followed by a Cougar three from
Leisha Crawford making it 64-61 with three minutes left. The Lions continued to lead, but a huge shot from downtown from
Ali Meyer had the Cougs within two points of SAGU 68-66 with 57 seconds left. Meyer was able to get another jumper equalizing the game at 68-68. SAGU still had the opportunity to score but
Kaitlyn Hinch stole it from them with three seconds left putting the game into overtime.

Overtime started and there were many missed opportunities from both teams. The fouls continued and layups were rolling off the rim. It was the 28
th foul by CCU that put the Lions up 76-74. Luckily they were not able to make their free throws.
Ali Meyer ran down the court and was fouled on by the Lions, but also missed both her shots. The Cougs grabbed an offensive rebound and threw it right back to Meyer who scored two and was fouled on tying the game up once again at 76-76.

Ali Meyer stepped up to the line for the last time with 25 seconds left. Meyer made both buckets putting CCU up 78-76. SAGU ran towards their hoop, but was not able to execute, allowing CCU a rebound and two more points by a
Chandler Sturms layup. The game ended 80-76 Cougars.
Ali Meyer would have 26 points, four steals, and 10 rebounds (10-12, 1-1, 5-8).
Kaitlyn Hinch scored 16 points, shooting 6-10 FG, 2-2 3FG, and 2-2 FT.

 Colorado Christian will be playing in the NCCAA Central Region CHAMPIONSHIP game Friday, March 11
th 7:00 PM. The game will be held in the CCU Event Center, and the Cougars will be facing Oklahoma Baptist University (15-14).
