Cougars Swept by Mavericks

Both the men's and women's tennis teams traveled to Pueblo, CO on Thursday to take on Colorado Mesa University. The men lost their match to the Mavericks by a final score of 8-1, and the women were defeated 7-2.

Ryder Searle picked up the lone victory for the men's team on the day as he won in straight sets (7-5, 6-1) as he knocked off the top singles player for Colorado Mesa. Barrett Cooper also played well for the Cougars but was narrowly defeated in the third and final set of the match.

Head coach John Goodrich spoke after the matchup and said, "Ryder played awesome tennis as he was able to win the number one singles. Ryder has continually been improving throughout the season, and it was great to see him put it together today.

The Lady Cougars were led on the day by the strong play from Paige Crews. Crews won her singles match in straight sets (6-2, 6-0), and also helped earn the other victory on the day for the team as she and Maddie Andersson teamed up and beat the number one doubles pair for the Mavericks by a final score of 8-6.

Goodrich had nothing but praise for Crews after the match, "Paige has gone undefeated in conference playing as the number one singles player. She has continued to impress throughout the year."

Both teams will be traveling to Pueblo, CO where they will be competing in the RMAC championships which begin on Friday April 22nd and conclude on the 23rd.
