For the first time ever in CCU baseball history, the Cougars took the four game series victory over CSU-Pueblo. After coming off of an 8-7 win in yesterday's game, the Cougars remained consistent and won both games today by one, with scores of 5-4 in each.
Game 1:
In the first inning CSU Pueblo jumped up with a 1-0 lead, but CCU was quick to respond with
Scotty Wright bringing in
Jerry Gallegos to tie up the game 1-1. After an out was recorded, back to back hits by
Cooper Gray and
Jerry Gallegos brought up
Scotty Wright. After a full count, Wright hit his third home run of the season to take a 4-1 lead.
Joey Loranger held the Cougars lead after pitching 5 innings in a row with no earned runs from the Thunder Wolves. Still leading 5-1 in the 6
th inning, CSU Pueblo took advantage of two errors defensively by CCU to score two runs and cut the Cougar lead down to just two.
After earning the win in yesterday's game,
Jarrod Rivera came on to close out the game in the 7
th. Despite another shaky inning defensively, Rivera was able to collect his second save of the year and secure the 5-4 victory for CCU.
Scotty Wright provided the offensive fire power, finishing the game 2-3 with 1 run scored and 4 RBI's.
Jerry Gallegos and
Dillon Mctague also finished the game 2-3.
Joey Loranger picked up his 4

Game 2:
The second game of the double header started out strong for the Thunder Wolves, as they got two quick runs in at the top of the first.
Jerry Gallegos fired back hitting a triple which brought in
Cooper Gray to make the score 2-1. This was followed by a sacrifice fly by
Alex Ginn to bring Gallegos home and tie up the game 2-2.
Scotty Wright brought in Gallegos yet again to make the score 3-2 in the third. CSUP kept the game close and snagged a run in the top of the 4
th inning to tie up the score 3-3.
Matt Fontneau came in to relieve CCU starter
Quinn Hunter with the bases loaded in the fourth, but retired the final out of the inning to keep the game tied.
In the bottom of the fifth,

Dillon Mctague with a single to take the lead. Yet again the Thunder Wolves inched back to tie the game up 4-4 in the bottom of the 6

After
Alex Ginn kept CSU-Pueblo from scoring in the top of the seventh, it allowed CCU to come up with a chance to walk-off a winner. With bases loaded in the bottom of the 7
th,
Scotty Wright came up and hit a comebacker to the mound. The pitcher made a great stop and attempted to get the out at home, but due to a high throw
Mikale Doherty was able to slide in safely, and secure the Cougar victory 5-4.

Scotty Wright who went 3-4 with 2 RBI's,
Jerry Gallegos who went 2-3, and
