Cougar Baseball was dealt a tough loss on Thursday afternoon to the #6 seed Ecclesia College 2-0. CCU's strong power rating had them placed as the #2 seed in the NCCAA Central Regional Tournament, right behind Oklahoma Baptist University.
 
Ecclesia College is located in Springdale, AK and is affiliated with the NCCAA. The Royals are 31-19 overall and 8-4 in their conference-Victory Collegiate Baseball Conference. The Cougars struggled on offense with only five hits through seven innings. Ecclesia's pitcher was strong on the mound and had five strikeouts again blue and gold. Starting for the Cougs was Evan Fink who pitched well through six innings, allowing four hits and two runs, with one strikeout. Jarrod Rivera came in to close the game in the seventh. Austin Maltby led on offense going 2-3.
 
Colo. Christian will continue in pool play tomorrow Friday, May 12^th at 2:00 PM MST. The tournament is set-up so the top team in pool play advances to the championship game. Tie breakers are determined by head-to-head run differential runs allowed and runs scored. If necessary, then a coin flip.
