After traveling south to play the Mountain Lions of UC Colorado Springs, the Cougars took their second conference loss with a finals core of 53-74.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Colorado Christian was first on the scoreboard and had a 5-0 lead after a three and a jumper in the paint from
Jordan Baer. The Cougars continued to stay steady despite a slow couple of minutes, and at the five minute mark they were up by 7 after a layup from
Brooke Zimmerman. At the end of the first quarter the Cougars had a 3 point advantage, 17-14.
The second quarter however was a different story for the Cougars offensively. They were the first on the board again, but couldn't find their niche. The Mountain Lions took advantage and had an 8 point lead going into the locker rooms with a score of 30-22.
UC Colorado Springs came out into the second half on fire, and scored an impressive 27 points in the third quarter to give them a 19 point lead.
The fourth quarter the teams played pretty even, but the Mountain Lions outscored the Cougars by 2 to take the win by 21 points with a final score of 74-53.
GAME LEADERS: Leading the Cougars offensively was
Jordan Baer with 21 points, after going 3-4 from three point range. Leading rebounder was
Brooke Zimmerman with 5.
UP NEXT: The loss gives the Cougars an overall record of 5-6 and a conference record of 3-2. The team will host their next pair of games next year when they host CSU Pueblo on January 4th at 5pm, followed by New Mexico Highlands on January 5th.
