Taking the floor for their last game of the season, CCU Women's Basketball played in Colorado Springs against the Mountain Lions of UCCS. After a well fought game, the Cougars took the loss with a final score of 56-64.
CCU started out strong and took the lead early on. The Cougars were able to maintain the lead going into the locker rooms, going up by 6 with a score of 30-24 at the half.
Both teams came out into the second half offensively sound. They went blow for blow on the offensive end until the Mountain Lion defense put the pressure on near the end of the fourth quarter to take the lead.
The Cougars were down by 4 with 48 seconds left, which then began the string of fouls to try to slow down the game. Unfortunately the efforts were not enough.
Both playing impressively on both ends, leading scorers in today's game included
Sarah McGinley with 20, and
Jordan Baer with 19.
CCU finished their conference campaign with a record of 5-17 and 7-20 overall. Battling through adversity and numerous injuries, the Cougars season did not end how they hoped but the team still stayed strong.
