LAKEWOOD, CO. – Colorado Christian and Central Washington faced off for the second time in two weeks for the Cougars first home game of the season.
A close game throughout, Central Washington pulled away with impressive shooting from three point range. Shooting over 30% from three, they secured a 60-48 victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Cougars took an early three point lead four minutes into the first quarter. The Wildcats evened the score a few minutes later and would hold onto that lead heading into halftime.
The Cougars stayed close as they only trailed by ten or more for less than three minutes of game time during the first half, and headed into halftime only down by five.
The Cougars carried the momentum from the second quarter when they scored 12 of the final 18 points into the start of the third quarter. The game stayed close throughout the third, Central Washington didn't lead by double digits until less than a minute left in the quarter.
Central Washington pulled away in the fourth, holding a double digit lead for most of the quarter. The Cougars had chances to slim the lead but couldn't find the basket, scoring only ten points.
COUGAR LEADERS: Lourdes Gonzalez led the team with 14 points, Brookelyn Hurlbut had four assists, and Olivia Christy had eight rebounds.
