After traveling to Gunnison, Colorado, the Cougars were unable to overcome a rough first half and fell to the Mountaineers of Western State with a final score of 49-62.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The first quarter was off to a slow start for Colorado Christian, as the team was only able to get up 6 points. Western tripled their points and had 18. The team was able to pick it up coming into the second quarter and scored 13, but they were unable to slow down the Mountaineers. Western had the upper hand going into the locker room by 18 points, 19-37.
The second half was a different story for the Cougars, as they were the first ones on the board after a three from
Jordan Baer. The team was able to step it up and outscored the Mountaineers in the second half 30-25, but they were unable to overcome the first half deficit and lost by 13.
GAME LEADERS: Leading the Cougars in scoring tonight was
Sarah McGinley with 12, followed by
Charnai Anderson with 11. Leading in rebounds was
Jordan Baer with 11.
UP NEXT: The loss gives Colorado Christian an overall record of 9-11, and an RMAC record of 7-7. The team will travel to Grand Junction for their next game against the Mavericks of Colorado Mesa on Saturday, February 2nd at 5:30pm.
