Texas Trip Ends in Rainy Defeat

On Saturday morning, the CCU baseball team concluded their stint at the Alpine Fresh 4~Him Classic by dropping their final game by a score of 4-1. Taking on Oklahoma Christian University, Colorado Christian managed seven hits, but the Eagles defense kept the few Cougar baserunners in check, throwing out one at home and one at third from the outfield. The loss bring the opening portion of their record to 2-2 with a trip to Southern California waiting for them next weekend.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

For the third time in four games, the Cougars allowed their opponents to take an early lead in the top of the first. They would go on to allow Oklahoma Christian to score three more run in the top of the 3rd inning to extend the lead to 4-0.

Near freezing rain would delay the game in the 4th inning for almost an hour. Coming out of the delay, CCU opted to bring in a fresh pitcher, Justin Kiedinger, who held the Eagles to only two hits and no runs in eight innings on the bump for the Cougars. CCU would find their way onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the 5th inning. Ultimately the game would be delayed and finally canceled after 7 ½ innings of play.

NOTEWORTHY STATS:

- Heath Hays continued his hot start to 2019 with a third straight game with a hit, giving him 4 straight.
