LAKEWOOD, CO – In the first game at home this season for Colorado Christian they hosted Fort Lewis in the RMAC matchup.
A close game for most of the contest, the Cougars came back from a 12-point halftime deficit to take the lead in the third quarter but a rally from the Skyhawks netted them the victory in the end by a final of 73-67.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The first quarter started with the Cougars falling behind early but battling back to take the lead with just under three minutes to go. A late 9-1 run from the Skyhawks saw them lead 18-13 heading into the second.
Fort Lewis continued their run in the second quarter, scoring 21 points to Colorado Christians 14 to head into halftime with a 12-point lead as the Cougars trailed 39-27.
The Cougars came out of the locker room on fire, scoring 26 points in the third quarter which helped them lead heading into the fourth quarter which included a 9-0 run by the Cougars which helped them overtake the Skyhawks.
The Cougars held the lead heading into the fourth until about the eight-minute mark at which Fort Lewis took over and never looked back, holding onto the lead until the end of the game and defeating the Cougars by six, 73-67.
COUGAR LEADERS: Taylor Ferris led the team with 16 points as she played 27 minutes off the bench.
Brookelyn Hurlbut had six rebounds for the Cougars.
Sam Nunez had three assists for the team.
