LAKEWOOD, CO – A roller coaster of a season for Colorado Christian came to a close Friday evening with a dominant win over Regis University.
In a game in which the Cougars never trailed, Colorado Christian scored 37 points in the first half and strolled to a 67-59 victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Cougars only were tied once, three minutes in as the teams were tied 2-2. Colorado Christian then went on an 11-2 run to break away from the Rangers. Scoring 18 points in the first quarter shooting 47% from the field.
The second quarter was more of the same, the Cougars scored 19 points off 52.9% shooting. Leading by as many as 16, the Cougars went into the half with a 37-23 lead.
Coming out of the half, the Cougars continued the sharp shooting performance only trailing by less than two for the last few seconds of the third quarter. Lourdes Gonzalez recorded her second double-double of the season halfway through the third quarter.
In the fourth, Colorado Christian scored 18 more points to hold the lead against Regis and cruise to the win as they held a double digit lead for all but three points in the final frame.
COUGAR LEADERS: Gonzalez led the team with 17 points and also led the team in rebounds with 11. Olivia Christy led the team with six assists.
SENIOR STAT LINES: Marie Tsoungui had 12 points to go along with six rebounds and four assists. Brianna Pribble recorded three points and a rebound, her three points came fittingly on a 3PT shot. Sacha Griffin had four points, a rebound and an assist on 2-3 shooting and she also recorded a steal.
