Box Score LAKEWOOD, CO – The Cougars went into overtime with Texas Permian Basin and came away with the victory after being behind for most of the game.
Colorado Christian fell behind the Falcons for the majority of the game fighting just to tie it up.
HOW IT HAPPENED – The first quarter both teams came out energized and aggressive. The Cougars had a 46.7 field goal percentage. Texas Permian Basin notched a 71.4 three-point percentage opposed to the Cougars 40 percent.
Agnes Paul lead the team with six points in the first and second quarter. Following closely behind was
Megan Kamps tallying five points with two rebounds.
The second quarter was a mild struggle for both teams. They each had 11 turnovers and a zero percent three-point average. The Cougars recorded seven points and the Falcons notched six throughout the second quarter.
At half time, the Falcons held their lead 29-25 registering five three-pointers.
The third quarter brought a more intensive performance as the registered a seven-point run. They fired a 100 percent free-throw percentage verses Texas Permian Basin's 50 percentage average.
Sophia Karasinski drained two three-point shots to bring the team back in the game. Karasinski was an integral part to the Cougars offensive game. She led the team in points, rebounds and recorded three assists.
The fourth quarter displayed the true grit the Cougars have to offer. Their focus on defense and aggression on offense allowed them to tie up the game to push into overtime.
Sydney Daniels showcased her talents on defense as she picked up several of the Falcons turnovers, two steals and two rebounds.
Going into overtime the score was 51-51. Colorado Christian's accuracy and patience gave them their victory. They registered a 50 percent field-goal average in overtime as opposed to the Falcon's 38 percent.
The Cougars 100 percent free-throw percentage helped inch them towards their 69-66 victory.
COUGAR LEADERS
Haley Hanson showed off her impressive well-rounded skill sets offensively and defensively. She was the lead scorer for the team and in three-pointers, along with
Jordyn Brown.
Grace Field scored two out of three attempted three-point shots. Paul made all three of the Cougars blocks.
