LAKEWOOD, CO – Colorado Christian and CSU Pueblo went back and forth in a tight first half before the ThunderWolves pulled away in the second to secure their third win of the year, 70-51.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Both teams came out firing on all cylinders as both teams scored 21 points in the first quarter including the Cougars having an 11 point lead at two different points in the quarter.
Both teams stayed deadlocked in the second quarter as neither team would give way, the ThunderWolves held the momentum going into the half with a two point lead.
The break may have hurt the Cougars for the first time this season, as the third quarter has been one of the strongest quarters for the Cougars this season, tonight however it was CSU Pueblo who used the break to come out scoring 21 more points in the quarter while the Cougars only managed 10.
Both teams slowed in the fourth quarter with neither team breaking the 15 point barrier in the quarter. The lead built in the third was enough for the ThunderWolves to secure the victory.
COUGAR LEADERS: Brookelyn Hurlbut led the Cougars with 15 points, Olivia Christy followed up with 12. Hurlbut had six rebounds to lead the team, Sam Nunez has five. Molly VandenBrink had three steals for the Cougars.
