DENVER, CO – As the end of the season draws closer every day there are more finals in front of each game, tonight the Cougars played in their final road game of the season against Regis University. The Cougars fell behind early and the Rangers won 73-55.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The two teams traded buckets back and forth to start the game out before the Rangers went on a 12-2 run to end the first quarter and go up 22-12 heading into the second.
The Cougars looked to fight back in the second quarter but the Rangers were able to maintain a double digit lead for most of the quarter and went into the halftime break with a 41-24 lead over the Cougars.
The Rangers and Cougars both came out firing to start the third but the Rangers continued to knock down shots and led the Cougars by 20 heading into the fourth.
The Cougars came alive in the fourth outscoring the Rangers by four points but it was not enough to overcome the deficit as they fell to Regis.
COUGAR LEADERS: Brookelyn Hurlbut is back to her team leading ways, scoring 20 points and collecting ten rebounds, both marks being the best on the team. Lourdes Gonzalez was second for both marks with 10 points and three rebounds.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
The Cougars had 13 points off turnovers.
The Cougars outscored the Rangers in the paint 26-24.
The score was tied four times, all in the first quarter.
