GRAND JUNCTION, CO – The Cougars were back in action in day two of the RMAC tournament as the last two unbeaten teams went at it with a spot on the line for the RMAC Championship.
HOW IT HAPPENED: The Cougars jumped on fielding errors early as Caitlin McCarthy reached on a fielding error by the shortstop which got the Cougars on the board with the first run of the game. A second Maverick error scored Kenzie Middleton as the Cougars got out to a 2-0 lead.
Sydney Reamer brought the crowd to life in to top of the second with a solo home run into the stands in dead center as the Cougars continued to pour it on, leading 4-0.
The game continued to be all Cougars, scoring a run in the fourth off a Stephanie Day single followed up by a Kenzie Middleton single that scored two more runs and the Cougars were all over the Mavericks, 7-0. Day singled again in the seventh to bring the Cougars to eight runs.
Sydney Rawlings who had pitched the entire game up to that point came back out in the seventh inning and shut the Mavericks down, making the final out on a groundout back to her.
COUGAR LEADERS: Sydney Reamer had four hits and two RBI for the Cougars, Stephanie Day had three hits and two RBI as well.
Sydney Rawlings pitched the game of the tournament, striking out six in seven innings while only walking two as she shut down the top offense in the RMAC.

This was the first complete game shutout of the season for Sydney Rawlings.
