The Colorado Christian women's basketball team is off to a great start this season as their record now sits at 3-2 after being narrowly defeated by crosstown rival Metro State 67-61 on Tuesday night. After celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, the Cougars will be right back to action on Saturday afternoon as they take on Texas Permian Basin at home to finish off the weekend.

Saturday 11/26/2022 vs Texas Permian Basin 2 PM MST:     These two teams will be meeting for the second time ever on Saturday, and if this game is anything like the first game we will all be in for a treat. The Cougars took the first game of the series in a double overtime thriller by a final score of 69-66 exactly one year earlier to the matchup on Saturday 11/26/2021.

Texas Permian Basin has had a strong start to the season as they currently hold a 3-1 record on the year. The Falcons use a very strong balanced attack which has proven very successful for them to begin the year. They have four players averaging double figures in points led by Holly Hemmeline (13.3 PPG) and followed closely by Andreea Mancha (11.0 PPG), Diavian Spencer (10.5 PPG), and Kamari Portalis (10.0 PPG). Perhaps the lynch pin of their offense could be sophomore guard Avalon Munoz who averages 8.5 PPG, but leads the team in assists with 18, and also steals with 18.

CCU Cougars:     Colorado Christian also is led by one of the most balanced attacks you will ever see. The Cougars have seven players averaging at least eight points per game, so the scoring is spread out which makes it hard for the opponents to key in on any one particular player. The Cougs are led by Regan LoConte and Makenna Bodette who both average 9.4 PPG. Also leading the way offensively would be Victoria Perez (9.2 PPG) and Dasiya Jones (8.6 PPG). Holding down the middle is the talented duo of Agnes Paul and Maggie Hutka. Both are nearly averaging a double-double as Paul averages 9.0 PPG and 9.8 RPG, while Hutka averages 8.2 PPG and 8.2 RPG.

Head coach Diane Thompson spoke prior to the game coming up this weekend and said, "I Love this young team and what we are building!!  The ups and downs are a fun ride, we will have some wins and heart breaks but at the end of the day, we are getting better on and off the court through Christ who strengthens us."

The game on Saturday marks the second home game of the year for the women's basketball team, so come on out to the CCU Event Center and support the Cougars as they go for their fourth victory of the season.
