LAKEWOOD, CO- CCU began conference play on Friday evening at home against New Mexico Highlands in front of a crowd of loyal supporters. Despite their best efforts, the Cowgirls pulled away for a 74-66 win. 

Agnes Paul led her team with 15 points and nine rebounds for a near double-double. Mykaela Moore scored 12 points while Tessa Hauser had 11 points and six rebounds. 

CCU saw their bench put up 31 bench points to NMHU's 21. The paint was dominated by the Cougars as they outscored their opponent 34-20 inside. Offensive rebounds came at a high clip for the hosts, as they scored 18 second chance points. 

In the end, a strong second half from NMHU gave them the victory by eight points in the RMAC opener.

The Cougars play again at home on December 3 against CSU Pueblo with tipoff at 5 p.m. MST.
