Athletes at Colorado Christian have been excelling in their sports over the past couple of years, but the term "Student Athlete" is not just a term for the players that enroll at CCU. The fact is that every one of our athletes knows that their first, and most important responsibility is within the classroom and making sure that they complete all of their requirements which will set them up for more success long after their playing careers are finished. Nothing speaks to this more than the prestigious Presidents' Award for Academic Excellence presented to schools by the NCAA. Thanks to the hard work from the student athletes, CCU has been named a recipient for the 2022 Award.
The award is given to those Division 2 schools that have a student athlete graduation rate of above 90% during a four period. Only 44 schools have been awarded this honor out of over 300 schools competing. For the full list of 2022 recipients please

Even when using the less-inclusive federal graduation rate, student-athletes are outperforming their peers in the general student population by 8 percentage points. For Division II student-athletes, the federal rate is 60%, while the general student body federal rate is 52%.
Colorado Christian Athletic Director Brian Wall spoke about the significance of the honor as he said, "I am so proud of our student-athletes here at CCU who truly are receiving an excellent Christ Centered education. Their ability to manage their time that is filled with not only academic demands, but the extra demands of their respective sports is remarkable. Our Coaches, Life Direction Center Advisors, professors, and staff members do a tremendous job supporting our athletes in ways that enable them to succeed in their sport arena, in the classroom, and ultimately in life beyond their collegiate careers!"
As the year is drawing to a close, CCU is honored to add one more accolade into a year which has been filled with milestones and historic moments for the athletics programs. Looking forward to some more great times as we transition into the New Year. Â
