LAKEWOOD,CO- Mark Oldfield has been the voice of Colorado Christian athletics for four years. Known for his iconic "Here come the Cougars" line, Oldfield will be announcing his 500th game when softball takes on CSU Pueblo on Saturday. 

Mark and his wife Ann Marie have been married since 2019, and he doubles as a campus security officer in addition to his duties as a PA announcer. Mark has been working security on campus for three years. 

Oldfield first started announcing at Colorado Christian when Assistant Athletic Director of Communications and Operations Cassidy Burke approached him while he was working at Faith Christian and asked him to come announce games. 

"Mark is not only talented in his craft but truly cares and wants the best for our athletes. He watches careers grow and is able to chat with athletes throughout their career," said Burke."This is more than a job for him, and we see that in his diligence and ability to find ways to provide a game atmosphere that is professional yet contagious. He goes about his work with a spirit of excitement and excellence. We have been blessed by Mark being the voice of the Cougars for the past 500 games!"

Oldfield loves helping out and being around the environment of Colorado Christian Athletics.

"It's always fun to come out to these games, it's always got a lively crowd. I love helping out and getting to meet all these fine young athletes," Oldfield said. 

Mark loves giving the athletes a special experience through his work and values each and every one of them through his announcing. 

"99.9% of these kids, this is the pros so I try to make them feel like rockstars. Behind the scenes I don't know what's going on in their lives, so if they're having a hard time, if I can help them forget about their problems for two hours that makes me feel like I did my job," said Oldfield.

Oldfield began by drawing inspiration from a local broadcast legend to develop his announcing style. 

"I take a lot of inspiration from Alan Roach, he's the local guy. He's a legend, he has gone on and done super bowls and olympics. Usually I just start mimicking him and slowly it evolved into my own thing," Oldfield said. 

Mark has been a vital part of Colorado Christian Athletics for the past four years and has made a big impact on many student-athletes as they have played for the Cougars.
