LAKEWOOD, CO- Colorado Christian hosted their first home conference game of 2024 on Friday evening as they took on Westminster. CCU dominated throughout, using a balanced attack to roll to a 76-55 victory over the Griffins.
Nicole Bowlin got things started off fast with a three-pointer, and Dasiya Jones quickly put in a layup. Victoria Perez made a layup a few minutes later and another Bowlin three made it 16-8 Cougars. Maggie Phipps got a layup to go late in the first quarter as CCU headed to the second quarter leading 24-17.
Bowlin started the second quarter much like the first, drilling her third shot from beyond the arc to extend the lead to 27-17. A Maggie Hutka layup later extended the lead to 11, and Jones pushed the lead to 15 before the team headed to halftime with CCU on top 39-26.
Try as they may, the Griffins never got very close to the Cougars in the second half, as the Cougars continued to pour it on with a pair of baskets from Hutka and a Phipps three-pointer. Jones closed the quarter with a three as her team took a 19 point lead into the final quarter.
Perez pushed the advantage to 23 with a layup before Jenna Kendall put the icing on things with a late three to cap the 76-55 victory.
Hutka paced her team with 20 points and 8 rebounds, followed by 14 points from Bowlin on 3-4 shooting from deep. Jones had a stellar game, pouring in 9 points and 9 rebounds.
