LAKEWOOD, CO- Colorado Christian competed in their final game of 2024 with a home matchup against Angelo State. The Cougars took a talented Rambelles team to the brink in an eventual 93-76 setback.
CCU found themselves trailing ASU 9-1 early, but they showed great fight and resiliency as
Makayla Boatman and
Nicole Bowlin hit jumpers to close the gap.
Mia Guest nailed a jumper to close the quarter with her team trailing by just one 21-20.
Bowlin immediately drained a three-pointer to give the Cougars the lead, and
Elise Grosdidier connected from beyond the arc to stretch the lead to five.
Victoria Perez got in on the downpour from deep as she hit a three, and a late Josei Grosdidier free throw gave the hosts a 43-42 lead at the break.
Perez started the second half strong with a jumper and layup while Hayle Luther kept her team in front with a layup. A Perez three and jumper from Josie pushed the lead to 55-50, and Bowlin made a layup to keep the momentum going. The visitors managed a run to take an eight point lead to the final frame.
The fourth quarter was controlled by the Rambelles as they opened up a 15 point lead midway through the period. Boatman connected on a three while Elise sank a pair of free throws, but in the end it was not enough in a 93-76 setback.
Bowlin and Perez paced the offense with 16 and 14 points, followed by Boatman with 13 and
Dasiya Jones with 10. Elise pulled down a team high 8 rebounds, and Bowlin dished out 8 assists.
The Cougars will take a break for Christmas and return to action against UCCS at home on January 7 at 5 p.m. MST.
