PUEBLO, CO- Colorado Christian opened their four-game series on Friday as they traveled south to take on CSU Pueblo. The Cougars took an early lead, but the hosts took over in the later innings to claim a 12-4 win.
The Thunderwolves scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first, but CCU had a response the next inning.
Jonny Tewinkle was hit by a pitch before
Gavin Acosta singled to advance him to third. Acosta quickly stole second to set up
Ross Panlasigui who smacked a two RBI single to send his team ahead.
CSUP scored four straight from there, but the game tightened in the seventh to 5-4 as
Luke Thompson notched a pair of RBI on a fielder's choice. The game looked bound for a tight finish, but the Thunderwolves broke the game open in the eighth with a seven-run inning to pull away for the eventual 12-4 victory.
Saxton Sorenson put in six innings of work while
Chaz Graham began the game before
Anthony Thomas closed it out. Panlasigui and Thompson paced the offense with a pair of RBI apiece.
The Cougars will continue play April 13 with a doubleheader in Pueblo with game times slated for noon and 3 p.m. MST.
