CCU Downed by Grizzlies in Relocated Game

DENVER, CO- After facility issues caused the game to be moved to the Regis Fieldhouse, CCU took on Adams State in an RMAC clash. The Grizzlies got hot from three to forge their way to an 82-62 victory.

ASU came out firing, scoring nine straight points to begin the game. Hayley Luther got her team on the board with a three-pointer, and Nicole Bowlin drained a three of her own . Josie Grosdidier got her team within two at 14-12, but a strong close put the visitors ahead 19-12 heading to the second.

The second quarter belonged to the Grizzlies as they stretched the lead to as high as 16 at one point. A rally from CCU capped by a Dasiya Jones layup brought the deficit to 40-29 at the half.

ASU continued to drain threes as they extended the advantage to 19, and eventually 27 midway through the third. Victoria Perez hit a late three in the quarter, but ASU still took a 68-46 lead to the fourth.

CCU tried to fight their way back into the game in the final quarter of play, but they were never able to climb closer than 20 behind. In the end, the Grizzlies came away with an 86-66  victory.

Jones had a huge night, posting a double-double with 23 points and 14 rebounds. Perez and Elise Grosdidier chipped in 11 points while Perez dished out 5 assists.

The Cougars will regroup for a January 30 matchup at home against Westminster University at 6 p.m MST.
