SPEARFISH, SD- The Cougars closed 2025 with their fourth RMAC matchup of the season as they continued play in South Dakota at Black Hills State. The two teams were close through one half of play, but the Yellowjackets pulled away in the second half for a 70-48 victory.
Elise Grosdidier got her team on the board with a layup, and
Samantha Wattawa later tied the game at 6-6 with a jumper.
Addison Wragge closed the quarter with a jumper as CCU trailed 16-12 heading to the second quarter.
Hayley Luther drilled a three-pointer early in the second to make it a two point contest, and
Ja'Shelle Johnson tied the game at 18-18 with a layup moments later. A late three from
Nicole Burns took the teams to the break with BHSU leading 29-25.
Maley WIlhelm got in on the attack from beyond the arc with a three, but the hosts began to pull away with consistent offense to take a 50-34 lead to the final quarter.
Josie Grosdidier splashed in a three and a pair of free throws, while
Jordon Heckert got a layup to go. Josie closed the scoring with a layup, but in the end the Yellowjackets came out with a 70-48 victory.
Johnson paced the team with 10 points, and three assists, while Heckert pulled down five rebounds.
The Cougars will now prepare for 2026, with their first competition of the New Year slated for January 2 at home at 1 p.m. MST against Northern New Mexico College.
