GRAND JUNCTION, CO- CCU continued their four-game set at Colorado Mesa with a doubleheader on Saturday. In a back and forth game one, the Cougars ultimately fell 14-6 before dropping the second game of the twin bill 12-2.

GAME ONE
The Mavericks scored the first three runs of the game in the first inning, but Major Maydon and Gregory Rangel responded in the second with consecutive homers to cut the gap to 3-2. The game remained scoreless until the fifth when the Cougars tied things up with a bases loaded hit by pitch that plated Connor Laeng. Lukas Hinze then came up huge with a bases clearing double to right center as CCU took their first lead of the game at 6-3.

CMU made a comeback, scoring seven runs in the bottom half of the fifth, and they tacked on five more in the sixth aided by a grand slam as they pulled away for a 14-6 victory.

Saxton Sorenson started on the mound, striking out two and scattering seven hits on 95 pitches thrown. Hinze paced the offense with his three-run double in the fifth.
