Cougars Wrap Up Home Series with Doubleheader Split Against Yellowjackets

LAKEWOOD, CO- CCU wrapped up play against Black Hills State on Monday with another doubleheader at All Star Park. Both games were low scoring affairs with the Cougars claiming game one 2-1 before narrowly falling 3-2 in 10 innings.

GAME ONE
The Colorado Christian University softball team claimed a hard fought 2-1 victory in their first game of the doubleheader against Black Hills State on a beautiful day at All Star Park. With strong defensive play and timely hitting, CCU outshined BHSU to take the win in the first of two games played this afternoon. The game kicked off with a solid start for the Cougars as Peyton Marvel led off with a homerun, setting the tone for the team's offensive production. Kat Hanson followed with a single and a double, adding another hit to the tally of the Cougars. Despite a strong pitching performance from both teams, the Cougars managed to secure a lead they wouldn't give up for the rest of the game. In the third inning, Black Hills State managed to get a run on the board, but Colorado Christian's defense stood strong, preventing further scoring throughout the remainder of the game. Emma Duncan, who pitched an outstanding game, earned the win, holding Black Hills State to only three hits and one run across seven innings of work. Duncan's performance on the mound was instrumental in securing the Cougars' victory. The Colorado Christian University softball team showed resilience and skill on both sides of the ball in securing the win against Black Hills State in game one.

GAME TWO
In an exciting finish to the doubleheader at All Star Park, Colorado Christian University's softball team fell to Black Hills State in game 2 of the series, with a score of 3-2. After a strong performance in game 1, the Cougars battled hard but were unable to hold off Black Hills State's late rally in the sixth inning, which led to the game-winning run. The game remained scoreless for the first five innings, with both teams showcasing solid defense and pitching. Black Hills State broke through in the sixth inning with two runs, and although the Cougars responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the same inning, it was not enough to secure the victory. The Cougars had some bright spots at the plate with key contributions from Lopez, McMullin, and Stankiewicz, but fell short in the late innings.
