TYLER, TX- Colorado Christian continued play at the South Central Regionals with a pair of matchups on Friday. After falling to the host UT Tyler 7-1, CCU saw their memorable season come to a close in a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Oklahoma Christian.
GAME ONE
The Cougars took on the host and one-seed Patriots in game one of the day, and the two teams battled through five innings before UT Tyler broke it open. A run in the first and fourth and two in the fifth made it 4-0.
In the sixth, UTT plated three more runs, and an RBI single from
Camryn Quilling was not enough in a 7-1 setback.
GAME TWO
With the loss, CCU got set to take on Oklahoma Christian for the second time at the regionals in an elimination game. The Eagles struck first in the second, but Colorado Christian responded quickly with an RBI double from
Danae Lopez to tie things 1-1 after three innings of play.
A lengthy rain delay of over an hour ensued as the weather hit Irwin Field and the tarp came out on the infield. When play resumed, both teams battled through a pair of scoreless innings before OCU broke through. A leadoff homer and two more runs after that made it 4-1 heading to the final frame, and CCU could not mount a comeback as they saw their season end with a 4-1 defeat.
Another highly successful campaign comes to a close as the Cougars finish with an overall record of 44-16. The team reclaimed the RMAC Tournament Title for the third time in the last four years and took home the regular season title to earn hosting rights for the conference tournament. It was the fourth straight season CCU made an appearance at the NCAA Regionals as they once again showed they are a team to reckon with under Head Coach
Larry Hays and the amazing coaching staff at Colorado Christian.
