COLORADO SPRINGS, CO- The Cougars closed their series against UCCS on Saturday with a unique "home" doubleheader at Mountain Lion Park in Colorado Springs as snow in the Denver Metro area forced the series south to close. The Mountain Lions controlled play throughout both contests en route to dealing the Cougars 16-1 and 15-6 setbacks.
GAME ONE
The offense for UCCS got going early with a run in the first and five runs in the second to take a 6-0 advantage. A pair of scoreless innings ensued before the Mountain Lions tacked on seven runs in an explosive fifth to go ahead 13-0.
Transfer
Jordin Albertson provided a spark with a well hit double to right center to plate
Nathan Mensen in the fifth, but that was all CCU would get as UCCS claimed a 16-1 run-rule victory.
Caleb Perry got the start on the mound, going 4.1 innings before giving way to
Wyatt Saul who did not allow an earned run in 2.2 innings of work.
GAME TWO
The Mountain Lions kept their momentum at the plate going in the series finale, plating eight runs in the first inning of play.
Gregory Rangel responded in the bottom of the first with a solo homer, and CCU continued to rally in the third as

Cade Lacy launched a two-run blast to left center to cut the deficit to 8-4.
UCCS would tack on two more runs before Hinze came home on a passed ball in the fifth. The bats continued to attack as the Mountain Lions scored two in the sixth to extend the lead to 13-5. Mensen ripped a triple down the right field line in the sixth as
Tanner Rae raced home, but two more in the seventh on a double from UCCS gave them the eventual final score of 15-6.
TJ McCraw threw a strong four innings for the Cougars, while
Gavin Gomez pitched the final two innings. Lacy blasted his second homer of the season, while Rangel hit the second round-tripper of his season as well.
The Cougars will look to bounce back in their second series of RMAC play as they travel to Alamosa to take on Adams State with the series opener set for 3 p.m. MST on March 13.
