Beyond the Jersey
  • INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE & WHY | “There are two types of people in this world, people who are humble and people who are about to be.” – Former Coach Josh Schumacher
  • FAVORITE CCU MOMENT & WHY | “My favorite memory was in 2020 before the season got cancelled. We were all in California for a mission trip and a game. I got my first win as a pitcher with CCU, and that night, for whatever reason, we decided to play “Epic Sax Guy.” It’s a loop of five seconds of just a saxophone riff. We listened to it for ten hours, and it was horrible, but it was one of the greatest memories I have.”
  • OUTSIDE OF SPORTS | Watne loves going to comedy shows and spending time outdoors. His favorite outdoor activity is hammocking. He is also the chaplain for the baseball team. Watne says, “It’s a big passion of mine to lead Bible studies. We have a really good group of guys who consistently go, and it’s really cool.”
  • FAMILY TIES | Watne is the only one in his family to play college sports. He is the son of Greg and Valerie Watne. He has a younger sister, Corinne, and an older brother, Hayden. Hayden graduated from CCU.
