I like it because, in school, I really dislike having requirements to meet on assignments, like write this or make this, and it has to look a certain way and fit certain criteria. Sometimes it feels like teachers all want to receive similar results from students. Sometimes you need to just give a kid a blank slate to create, and that is really liberating. I like this Albert Camus quote because the mind doesn't need to seek to understand everything or to be limited to one understanding of something, what liberates the mind is not seeking to liberate it."

When I was a freshman at my high school, I had the opportunity to go to this Cross Country meet in Alabama, called Running Lane. It was just me and I think nine other boys on the team, most of them were seniors. I think it's such a significant memory for me because we weren't really granted very many opportunities as a team. My school mainly focused their funding towards the football team and we were the only private school who had a Cross Country team in 6A, so we didn't really produce great results, thus we didn't go out of state very often. Being at Running Lane was great, not because I got to compete on a great course, but because being there with this small team of guys felt so personal. It ended up raining hard and the course was covered in mud. You would think it would lessen the joy of this moment, but we only ended up having more fun running heel deep in mud. It was great."
