Miriam is in the midst of her second-year coaching at CCU, but you would think she is in her tenth year based on the relationships she has formed and the impact she has had. Miriam comes from a family of runners who are no strangers to success. Her siblings hold numerous All American honors and Championship titles, too many to list with any accuracy! Miriam has her own legacy of success that was carved out at CSU Pueblo. Miriam was a multiple time NCAA National Qualifier in cross country and track, highlighted by her 17th place finish at the 2016 NCAA National Cross Country Championships.

Upon hiring Miriam, the women’s program began to find a greater sense of competitive identity and grow in their understanding of “what it takes” to be a national level team. Miriam has brought a sense of grit and expectation to the women’s program. Miriam is a confident coach that believes deeply in the importance of establishing a strong understanding of each individual athlete as a means to helping athletes maximize their results and enjoyment of the sport. Miriam is also the logistical caretaker of the team, she is great at keeping athletes (and coaches!) on track and tirelessly works to keep the team efficient and effective in all we do.
The Cougars have enjoyed steady improvement

over the last four years, with the men’s program leading the way as the first team to qualify for an NCAA Championship in 2019. Since that time, the men have qualified for NCAA Nationals every year, most recently finishing third at the 2022 National Championship. The lady Cougars are not to be overlooked; they too have shown they are a team to be reckoned with at the national level by finishing tenth at the 2022 National Championships. On the track, Miriam has shared her knowledge to help CCU produce NCAA National track & field qualifiers in events ranging from 800m through the 10k.
Head Coach John Poag spoke on Miriam saying, "Miriam is a person of quality. Miriam makes us better in so many ways that transcends the outcomes of sport. When you meet Miriam, it is easy to be impressed with her poise, compassion, and faith, but in recognizing those qualities, her competitive instincts should not be overlooked! Miriam is a stabilizing force in our program, the stability she provides has a direct impact on our athlete’s ability to experience 'trial and error' without the fear of failure. Miriam Roberts began her tenure as an assistant with the Colorado Christian runners in July of 2021."
