Barb Wendell

  • Title
    Volunteer Assistant Coach

Barb Wendell joined the Colorado Christian Women’s Golf Team as a volunteer assistant coach during the 2018-19 season. Since coming on board, Coach Wendell has worked alongside Head Coach Phil Nelson to help lead the team to new levels of success.

Off the course, Wendell has shared the inspirational experience of being associated with Colorado Christian University and mentoring these Christian women athletes. Her passion for the program has helped secure tens of thousands of dollars in fundraising. Through the kind-hearted gifts of wonderful donors, their generosity is helping propel the CCU program and its facilities, at the same time attracting amazing academic golfers that are great Christian women.

The 2019 season saw the squad place third at the conference championships then in 2020 post the tally the ninth-best team GPA in all of NCAA Division II.

Outside of coaching and fundraising, Wendell constantly strives to improve her own golf game, winning her Club Championship this summer along with playing ladies’ interclub and participating in CGA events throughout the state most summers.

Wendell’s devotion of the program stems from the knowledge of competition and the fact that both of her children are college athletes. Her daughter Dakota competed at NCAA Division II level, was an academic and athletic all-American on the women’s soccer team and is now coaching with the team while in training to become a police officer. Wendell’s son Wyatt is a sophomore baseball player pitching at a junior college and is currently being recruited within the NCAA and professional levels.

Seeing not only her own children but also the players on the CCU Women’s golf team succeed and thrive in life through sports, developing their God-given talents to honor and serve Him, is the ultimate fulfillment for Coach Wendell.
