Laura Gustafson joins the Cougars track & field staff for the 20-21 season, overseeing the program's sprinters and jumpers.
Prior to Colorado Christian, Gustafson spent the past several years at Menlo College as the Assistant Cross Country and Track & Field Coach, primarily coaching the sprints, jumps, hurdles, and middle-distance athletes. Under her tutelage at Menlo College school records were broken 30 times and eight athletes earned qualification to the National Championships. At the untimely completion of the 2020 season two of the program's sprinter/jumpers had a number one ranking in the country in their discipline.
Gustafson earned a Master's degree in Sport Management from the University of South Dakota in 2018. During her time at USD Laura was a graduate assistant with the track & field program working with the sprints, jumps, and hurdles. In 2018 she assisted in coaching the women's team that won the Summit League Outdoor Track & Field Championships and the 9 jumpers, sprinters, and hurdlers that qualified for the first round of the NCAA National Championships.
She possesses an undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from Western Oregon University where she competed in the sprinting events. Laura holds all-time marks for Western Oregon in events ranging from as short as the 60-meter dash to as long as the Distance Medley Relay.
Laura holds certifications from the USTFCCCA and USATF and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and has worked in the strength and conditioning department at Menlo College.
