Xavier Smith joined the Colorado Christian University Men’s Basketball coaching staff ahead of the 2026-27 season. A native of Rochester, New York, Smith played high school basketball at The Charles Finney School before beginning his collegiate athletic career at SUNY Brockport, where he spent two years playing football. Smith then returned to basketball, transferring to Division II Roberts Wesleyan University, where he played basketball and earned a Bachelor of Science.
Following his playing career, Smith joined the Roberts Wesleyan Men’s Basketball coaching staff in 2023. During his time with the Redhawks, Smith was part of one of the most successful stretches in program history, including Roberts Wesleyan’s first-ever conference championship game appearance and two additional conference semifinal appearances.
In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Smith has trained and developed professional basketball players competing overseas. Alongside his coaching career, Smith has pursued advanced education in psychology and gained experience in clinical and professional settings, strengthening his ability to communicate, build relationships, and connect with student-athletes from a variety of backgrounds. His combined experience has helped shape his approach to player development, with an emphasis on relationships, accountability, discipline, and helping athletes grow both on and off the court.
