Colorado Christian Volleyball tried just about everything Friday night, but proved unable to ignite a spark against RMAC rival Regis University in Lakewood. CCU lost the night's match in three sets, falling to 10-8 on the season and 4-5 in conference play.
Â
Battling to stay in the match after falling in the first set, the home Cougars attempted changes to alter their fate. Unfortunately, all efforts failed against a consistent Regis attack that stalled any Christian surges. While the Rangers hit a .204 on the night, CCU managed a meager .106. It was an uncharacteristic showing for a Cougar squad hitting closer to .200 on the year.
Â
Still, there were plenty of bright spots for Colorado Christian, among them the offensive efforts of junior
Kaylee Pierce and senior
Ali Weber. Pierce's .300 kill percentage marked the highest on the CCU team, while she and Weber combined for 23 kills to lead the Cougars.
Â
Though they led the Rangers several times, the Christian squad could not muster the finishing power they'd need to pull off wins.
Â
The rest time will be brief for the Blue and Gold – they'll return to action Saturday at 1 pm for a matinee match-up against UCCS.
