Colorado Christian traveled to Idaho on Friday night to take on Idaho State in their first official game of the 2015-2016 season. Idaho State came out on top as they defeated CCU by a final score of 56-82. Shooting struggles was the story for the night, as they were unable to pick up any substantial momentum on the offensive side of the ball.
Â
Idaho State dominated from the opening tip as they were able to outscore the Christian squad in each of the four quarters. After the first, CCU was already looking at a double digit deficit as they were down 21-8. Normally, Colorado Christian has the ability to shoot themselves back into any game, but Idaho State played suffocating defense and stifled the Cougar attack all game long.
Â
Kate Louthan led the team scoring 14 points and also added six rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.
Haley Shaner had a good game coming off of the bench as she scored six points in only eight minutes and shot a perfect 3-3 from the floor. Idaho State had the rebounding edge on the night as they grabbed 54 total rebounds compared to 39 from CCU.
Â
Next up for CCU will be their first home game of the year as they take on Johnson and Wales University on Wednesday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7PM MST.Â
