The CCU Women's Basketball team had an outstanding game against Johnson and Wales University on Wednesday night winning 85-60. It was the Cougar's first home game of the season and they really put on a show for the crowd.
Â
Blue and gold looked really good on the court right from tip-off. The offense was running plays and executing buckets consistently throughout every quarter. There was no let down in this game from CCU. Christian had 50 of their 85 points scored in the paint, with only two three pointers made by newcomer
Paige Canty. Â
Â
It was quite the opposite scenario for JWU as they scored most of their points from the outside. The Wildcat's #3, Amanda Weber tried to close the gap for JWU as she made 5 out of 13 from the three-point line. Johnson and Wales had some impressive shooters, but could not keep ahold of the ball to make a comeback. CCU had 17 steals on JWU's 28 turn overs.
Ali Meyer took four of those balls from the Wildcats along with her double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds.
Â
Scottish born Cougar,
Claire Paxton led the team in points with 16 against JWU, and
Kate Louthan had nine rebounds and 12 points. The Cougars were up on the scoreboard throughout the whole match and had their biggest lead one minute into the third quarter by 33 points.
Â
CCU will be traveling to Denton, TX to compete against Texas Women's University on November 21
st. Tip-off is set for 4 PM.
