It was a rough night offensively for Colorado Christian as they struggled to get any momentum going against the strong defensive efforts of Fort Lewis. CCU was defeated by a final score of 50-64.
Â
The first quarter was a tight match between the two as the lead changed hands a few times throughout. At the end of the first, the score was tied 12-12. However the second quarter was a different story which favored Fort Lewis. CCU went ice cold from the floor as they were outscored in the period by 12 points and went into the break trailing 22-34.
Â
The Cougars played the Skyhawks much closer in the second half, but unfortunately were not able to overcome the 12 point deficit they built for themselves in the first half. It was a rare off-night for the Cougars offense as they only managed to shoot 32% from the field. They were led in scoring by
Kate Louthan who had 12 points while also adding five rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
Claire Paxton had nine points,
Alex Nelson added eight points, and
Ali Meyer lead the team in rebounds with six.
Â
The loss drops the Cougars record to 4-3 on the year and 1-2 in conference play. They will be heading home for their next game as they will be taking on Westminster College next Friday night at the CCU Event Center. Tip is scheduled for 5PM MST
