Metro State blew open the game in the second inning and won going away, defeating Colorado Christian 10-1 in Friday's Denver matinee.

The Roadrunners tagged
Ryan Erazo for seven runs in the second inning as the Christian starter was forced to exit after one out in the inning. There was little CCU pitching could do as Metro pounded seven doubles and two home runs on the afternoon.

Relievers
Jackson Gaskins, Pete Scheffel,
Mark McMahon, and
Alistair Reynolds combined over the game's final 6 2/3 innings.

The deficit was always going to be tough to overcome, but the task was made even harder by the neutralized Cougar bats. Christian could only manage two hits through the first six frames, finishing the contest with six.

Freshman
Jerry Gallegos was the lone Cougar with a multi-hit game. The outfielder's two hits raised his season average to .348, now third on the team.

With the outcome in hand, CCU was able to break the shutout in the ninth inning. After singles by
Taylor Dudley and
Matthew Zarlengo, a sacrifice fly by
Titan Marler scored Dudley to account for Christian's only run.

The Cougars take the field again tomorrow for a Saturday doubleheader beginning at noon.
