Colorado Christian lost another tight game and was unable to avoid the sweep at the hands of the Roadrunners, falling 3-2 Sunday afternoon.
Â
CCU evened the score at one in the sixth inning when
Taylor Dudley scored on an error by the Metro catcher. Dudley's 2-3 day at the plate raised his season average to .315, tied for second on the team.
Â
Metro State responded quickly, though, grabbing two more runs in their half of the sixth to reclaim the lead they would hold until the final out.
Â
Christian had been playing clean baseball all season but errors on Sunday hurt the Cougars as they were guilty of committing five miscues. Of Metro's three runs, only one was earned, going against pitcher
Matt Lewis who threw all eight innings for CCU. The junior from Scottsdale, AZ pitched well, as MSU tallied just five hits.
Â
The Colorado Christian offense, however, was once again at a premium.
Dustin Conley and
Pete McWilliams were the only other Cougars to record hits on the afternoon as the team finished with just four, and failed to collect an RBI on either of their runs.
Â
CCU will have an opportunity to stop their four-game slide with a midweek, non-conference matchup with Oklahoma Panhandle State. Because of prior inclement weather, the Wednesday doubleheader will be the first home games of the season for the Cougars.
