Colorado Christian University Women's Basketball played at the CCU Event Center on Saturday night vs S.D. Mines. After falling to Black Hill State on Friday night, it was crucial that the Cougars came out with a win, which is exactly what they did. CCU defeated SDSMT 78-45.

The first quarter ended with CCU up 22-8. It was consistent play by the Lady Cougars and a struggling Hardrocker offense that gave blue and gold the huge lead. Christian made 50% of their shots, while Mines was at 15% by the end of the first.

After this strong start there was no doubt CCU came out on the court more than ready to play. The Cougs were making good things happen on offense and their defense was a brick wall. For example, senior
Kate Louthan had five rebounds and four blocks in the first half, and
Claire Paxton led the team with nine points and four rebounds.

The second quarter ended 36-19 Cougar game. S.D. Mines was able to get 11 points, which was three more than what they did in the first quarter. They shot 17% from the field, 0% three, and 56% from the line. The Cougars had 14 points in the second quarter and shot 42% (14-33) from the field, going 20% (2-10) from three and 86% (6-7) from the line.

The second half continued in Christian's favor. The crowd would say it was a fun game to watch as CCU shot clean and took care of the ball. The Hardrocker's fought hard to close the gap, but were unsuccessful as they continued to miss their three-pointers and turnover the ball. The third quarter ended with a score of 56-28 CCU.

The bench was utilized in this game scoring 32 points for CCU. The fourth quarter was quick and all of CCU 's players were able to see the court with everyone but three contributing points to the scoreboard. Christian had their largest lead of 34 points (76-42) with three minutes left on the clock. The game ended with a Cougar victory of 78-45.

Honorable mentions for Colo. Christian include the dynamic duo
Kate Louthan and
Claire Paxton who had 17 points each. Defensively Louthan had nine rebounds, four blocks, and two steals.
Ali Meyer was the runner up with ten points, and
Kaitlyn Hinch had eight points, four assists, and two steals.

This puts CCU at 14-5 overall and 11-4 in conference. Women's Basketball will be traveling to Chadron State College on February 5
th for a 5:30pm game.
