After a long weekend in New Mexico, the Cougars came home to Lakewood with two more wins under their belt. It was now time to play the Fort Lewis Skyhawks on Christian's home court. CCU defeated Fort Lewis College 72-69 making that their fifth consecutive win.
It was obvious that Fort Lewis was a force to be reckoned with shooting 60%, and leading the Cougs in every area statistically in the first quarter. With both teams having eight wins, the competition was intense right from the start. The first quarter ended with Christian down 26-18.
Starting the second, Christian consistently stayed about ten points under the Skyhawks trying to figure out a system that would work. Fort Lewis' Dallas Dickerson ran the court with 13 points and four rebounds. By half-time blue and gold's leading player was
Ali Meyer with eight points, going 4-4 and seven rebounds. CCU went into the locker room down nine points 46-37.
It was about three minutes into the third when the tables started to turn. The Skyhawks started missing shots and the Cougars started making them. In addition to the Cougs revamped defense, there were also five fouls against blue and gold, which gave them the opportunity to close the gap. FLC shot less than half of what they shot in the first half at 27%. CCU went into the last stretch of the game down two points 55-53.
Colo. Christian was just warming up, and by the fourth quarter it was game time. At 5:30 the score was 60-60. Every possession was crucial, and defense on both sides of the court was heated. A foul on
Taylor Torres, then a turnover by FLC, and then a three by Torres led to CCU taking the lead 70-67 with two minutes left. After that Fort Lewis couldn't get back into the game.
The Lady Cougars were led in points by
Taylor Torres who scored 16 going 5-7 from the field, 1-2 three-point line, and 5-5 from the line. Sophomore center
Ali Meyer had a double-double on the night with 12 rebounds and 11 points. Senior

Claire Paxton had 12 on the scoreboard. The game ended with the Lady Cougars shooting 46% FG, 25% 3FG, and 76% FT.
