Colorado Christian wrapped up their regular season on Sunday afternoon, as they faced off against Fort Lewis College. The Cougars scored the only goal late in the second half, which gave them the 1-0 victory on the day. It marks the second straight game which the Cougs have won by a 1-0 final score.
Â
It was an evenly matched game throughout, which was led by both defenses as the game remained deadlocked 0-0 heading into the break. Fort Lewis outshot CCU 9-3 in the first half, but were only able to get one shot on goal.
Â
At the start of the second half, both defenses continued their dominance, as neither side was able to gain an edge at the offensive end. With ten minutes left, the Cougars amped up their offensive attack, with hopes of winning the game in regulation. They broke free in the 84
th minute, as they worked the ball into the Fort Lewis zone.
Madison Stanton fired a shot on goal, which was saved by the Skyhawks keeper, but she could not corral it, as the rebound came out in the box.
Alyssa Regalado collected the rebound and attempted a shot, but was blocked by a FLC defender.
Madison Stanton got that rebound and sent a pass towards
Hannah Triem. Third time was the charm, as Triem shot it past the Skyhawks keeper for the only goal of the game. The CCU defense remained brilliant for the remainder of the game, as they held on to win by the final score of 1-0.

Head coach
Tammy McPherson talked about the win and her team after the game, "I really can't say enough about our players! They stepped up big time and ended the season with two conference wins on the road! They play together, they're coachable, and at the end of the day, they have become players that expect to win!"
Â
With the win, the Cougars record improves to 8-6-3 overall, and 5-4-3 in conference play. They finish the regular season on a three game winning streak in which they outscored their opponents 11-0. This marks the first season with a winning record in the regular season since the 2001. Next up will be the RMAC tournament, which will begin next week. Game times for the tournament will be announced once the tournament field is set. Â Â
