CCU Women's Soccer is on their way to the championship game at the NCCAA National Tournament. The Cougars defeated #8 Houghton College three goals to none in the semifinals on Friday afternoon.

Right when the whistle blew, blue and gold looked like a well-oiled machine with every part working hard to get the job done. After a day of rest, the Cougs were refreshed mentally and physically, and it showed on the field. CCU controlled the ball, won 50-50's, and put intense pressure on the Highlanders.

Goals:
- All three goals were scored in the first half
- Freshman #23 Sarah Feller had the first two goals
- 8:10 Feller dribbled up the middle and took a shot 15 yards out hitting the upper middle/left corner of the net
- 26:18 Feller recovered the ball off a corner kick deflection and took a huge boot 20 yards out
- The third goal was scored by Sophomore #10 Mollie Monson
- 29:54 Monson was caught in a scramble right outside the goal after a corner kick and got the ball in the net

Shots:
- CCU dominated the first half with 16 shots to Houghton's two shots
- CCU was outshot in the second half 5-3 by the Highlanders.
- Sarah Feller led the Cougars with five shots total, followed by #11 Mariah Fredericks and Mollie Monson who had four.

CCU's defense was persistent and consistent against HC with
Caitlyn Troupe and
Kennady McCullough leading in the back. Troupe and McCullough are resilient against their opponents and win most of the balls that come their way. Houghton had a hard time getting close to the Cougar's net because of the strong pressure from blue and gold. Senior goalie #00

Colorado Christian Women's Soccer is now 12-8-3 overall this 2016 season.

The Cougars will compete against Oklahoma Baptist University in the championship game on Dec. 3
rd at 2:00 PM MST. CCU lost to OKBU in the NCCAA Regional Tournament off a PK in the final minute. The Cougs will have a chance to redeem themselves from a heartbreaking loss.
