Cougars Take Win Over Grizzlies

CCU Men's Basketball won vs Adams State University 110-101 on Friday evening. This puts CCU at 6-1 in the RMAC and gives them their fourth consecutive win.

The first half was a battle back and forth between the Cougs and Grizzles. Both squads had burst of greatness that caused them to end the half at a close 41-40 CCU. Christian created more opportunities to score, but struggled to make a bucket going 13-34 in field goals. Adams shot 13-27 at 48%, but had one too many turnovers to take the lead. ASU had two players score a majority of their points in the first half, but the Cougs shared duties among Brett Brady-10 points, Jacob Taylor-8 points, and Andre Lane-9 points. Ty McGee and Dimitri Saliba both scored five in the first.

The Grizzles took the lead in the start of the second half, but Christian gained control at 45-45 and stayed ahead the rest of the game. Adams made it close in the end, but was unable to pull off the win as CCU's Brett Brady and Dimitri Saliba were untouchable.  Brady ended the game as the Cougs leading point scorer with 27 shooting 8-16 the field, 5-11 three, and 6-6 from the line. Saliba totaled 21 points and eight assists. Ty McGee had 15 points with seven rebounds and eight assists, and Jacob Taylor had 16 points and six rebounds.

It was an intense atmosphere in the CCU Event Center as the Grizzles and Cougars shared the same frustrations on the court. 62 fouls were called in the game and five players fouled out. Despite the conflict, the two teams finished the game as Christian won 110-101.

The Cougars will be back at the CCU Event Center on New Year's Eve playing Black Hills State University at 5:00 PM.
